When It is Ok to Not Be Ok

The pandemic has brought out the best and worst in people, sometimes at the same time. The world is chaos and you are trying to manage your life the best way you can. The news gives more information than you may need, things changes on a daily if not hourly basis and just as we thought we were out of the woods, something else happens that makes the uncertainty return and the fear. Sometimes it is okay to admit you aren't okay. The good news is that most people are not okay or haven't been during the pandemic so you are not alone. The key is to manage the information, set limits to your consumption of news and try to get a plan in place that allows you to handle the important things, i.e. your kids, job, and expenses. If it is truly bad enough, please reach out and get help through the many places to find assistance set up specifically for the pandemic. Also know it is ok to cry, dance, or yell it out so you can release some of the stress and keep moving forward. There is no shame in any of those things.

Ingram Law Firm is here to help when you find yourself needing legal assistance. Something you may not know about the firm, Ms. Ingram was a drug and alcohol therapist and a suicide hotline worker prior to entering the legal community. She is trained to deal with crisis and uses that training in every case she handles. There is no judgment about the situation you find yourself in and only levelheaded problem solving will be offered. It is our goal to make sure that the legal process does not add to your stress and that your concerns are handled in a dignified and appropriate manner even in the time of crisis.

If you find yourself facing a situation that requires legal resolution, it is important to not delay in reaching out for assistance. The Courts are open and accepting filings at this time. If you find yourself in a dispute over custody, whether it be a new issue or one that is ongoing, the Courts and Ingram Law Firm are here to help. You may need to file a petition asking the Court to set a custodial schedule that allows you to know when you should have your children and if necessary limit the other parent's access for their exposure to COVID-19 or for their bad behavior or both. If you have a custody schedule in place, but it is not working due to COVID-19 or other factors, it is time to make a change and get something in place that gives you peace of mind and protects your kids.

If you or your children are in an abusive situation, there are resources that can protect you. Ingram Law Firm can file a Family Offense petition for you to seek an Order of Protection for an immediate fix for the problem as you access other resources for assistance. If you are married to the abuser, a Family Offense petition is still available and can be combined in a divorce proceeding to give you continued and adequate protections. If the child is the abuser, there are resources available that includes the Family Offense petition but also Person in Need of Supervision (PINS) or Juvenile Delinquency (JD) proceedings that will add additional supervision to the child to ensure they get the help they need and provide you some support in discipline and peace of mind.

You are not trapped in any situation you may find yourself in. There is always a resolution of some kind, it may not be perfect, but it will give you some alternative to whatever you are currently dealing with.

The same can be said for your business. If you find yourself needing to change the way you conduct business, either because you cannot afford to stay open or because you need to completely restructure your company, you can find support with Ingram Law Firm as well. A business review can assist you to find things that can be changed and maximize your options to keep your business open. If you have to close, we can work on ways to preserve any future business you may have or a future re-opening of your current endeavors.

It is okay to not be okay. Find the resources available to help you resolve problems within your control and find ways to cope with the things that are not in your control. Ingram Law Firm is here for you, so feel free to schedule a consultation to speak to an attorney safely via zoom today.
